What is Quail Pages?
Quail Pages is a structured system for building and maintaining professional, content-driven websites with AI. AI helps people reason, write, compose, and make changes; QP keeps the website underneath explicit, reusable, and understandable.
Is QP an AI website generator?
Not in the usual one-prompt-and-hope sense. AI is an important interface to QP, but the goal is not one impressive generation. The goal is a site that can still be understood and changed years later.
If AI can build a website now, why do I need QP?
Building the first version is only part of owning a website. Sites accumulate new content, design changes, technical standards, security needs, search requirements, and years of small decisions. QP is designed so those changes happen inside a stable system instead of asking AI to keep extending and rediscovering a custom implementation.
Do I need to know how to code?
The long-term answer is no. QP is being built so nontechnical owners can work through conversation and normal decisions instead of learning web development. That complete self-service experience is still being proven during alpha.
What is QP good for?

Ownership, AI, and the stuff underneath
Why does QP care so much about structure?
Because generation is easy to confuse with ownership. A site becomes much more useful when its content, components, themes, and metadata have known shapes instead of depending on the next AI to reverse-engineer whatever the last AI invented.
How does QP help prevent a site from drifting over time?
QP separates content from the theme and gives both defined contracts. AI can still create custom compositions when they matter, but ordinary spacing, typography, colors, components, and behavior can continue to come from the same shared language instead of being independently reinvented with every edit.
Does structure mean every QP site looks the same?
No. FeatherQuest and Quail Pages themselves are intentionally very different. QP standardizes the foundation while themes, composition, imagery, content, and extension styles create the identity.
What happens when web standards change?
That is one reason the renderer is separate from the authored site. QP can evolve how it handles things like metadata, security, accessibility, search conventions, and output without requiring every site's content and design to be rewritten.
What happens when better AI models arrive?
That is part of the point. QP's contracts are meant to make the website legible to capable tools instead of tying its meaning to one model or one conversation.
What does alpha mean right now?
The basic architecture works and is already supporting real maintained websites. What has not been proven is the complete independent, nontechnical experience across lots of other people's needs.
Early alpha projects involve direct collaboration. Pricing, plans, support, licensing, and the eventual product workflow are still being shaped from evidence rather than pretending the answers are settled.
Can I use QP today?
